Mariella Ingrassia and Cheryl Graf like it loud and bold. This is also reflected in the editions of ISSU ISSU, the design collective behind which the two women stand. They have known each other since their student days, when ISSU ISSU was also created. Since then they have been experimenting with materials and colors, with shapes and the limits of design. They do not want to be limited in terms of technology or object; they are always dealing with unknown materials and diving into new areas of design. They have learned everything from silver to wax casting, and designed everything from scarves to handbags made of PET. That is why the idea of exchange and collaboration is central to ISSU ISSU. The design collective has collaborated with a saddler, a graffiti artist and a glassblower, for example, and have thus repeatedly brought traditional handicrafts into a contemporary context.
